Hold the bowl in your hand (or place it on the pad if you ordered one) and rub the rod in a circular fashion around the outer rim, maintianing contact with the bowl.  A constant ringing sound will soon emit from the bowl.  Vary the pressure and circular velocity to change the tone and volume.  You may even get more than one tone.  This tone provides a beautiful tone - a basis for meditation, prayer, and de-stressing.
